New Community Building
Location: Hillpoint, Wisconsin
This conventionally-framed building inside White Mound County Park, in Hillpoint, Wisconsin serves as the park's new community building. The new structure replaces a former outdoor shelter. The 3,000-square-foot building contains a 720-square-foot community room that will be open year-round. The facility also includes office space for the parks department and camper registration, a kitchen and an outside picnic area that overlooks White Mound Lake.
The building's exterior is covered with corten steel siding that provides a rustic look and weathers well. Extensive foam insulation in the walls and ceilings keeps the facility warm in the winter and cool in the summer.
The building is fully-compliant with ADA and includes three bathrooms, including a family restroom on the outside and a shower room. An asphalt pathway on the south east side of the building leads toward the lake and beach.
White Mound County Park represents Sauk County’s largest park, sizing in at 1,100 acres, and gets its name from a vanished village located south of the existing park.
“Before, all we had was an outdoor shelter. Now we can make this kind of a more year round type of facility that people can enjoy.”Dave Riek, ChairmanSauk County Highway and Parks Oversight Committee
